FREE DUTY was incorporated in January 1997 which was specifically established as part of a long term commitment to enter the duty free business in Hong Kong and throughout the region.

When the new Hong Kong International Airport was opened in 1998 at Chek Lap Kok, we started operating duty-free tobacco and alcohol stores there.

In 1999 we expanded our business to the Arrival halls of the airport.

In August 2003, we opened our shops at the Departure halls of the China Ferry Terminal and Macau Ferry Terminal. In June 2006, we extend our business to the Arrival halls.

In July 2007, we started our Railway duty free business in Lok Ma Chau Railway Station, which was extended to Lo Wu and Hung Hom Railway Station in January 2008.

In November 2014, we established together with South Korea-based Hotel Shilla group, to setup a joint venture company - Sky Shilla Duty Free Limited, and started operating duty free business at Macau International Airport.

In November 2017, we opened our store at Sands Macao Hotel offering over 150 brands ranging from beauty and fragrance, fashion, accessories, watches to jewellery, liquor & wine and packaged food.
